Child Visa - Living In Australia

child visa
A Dependent Child Visa is a temporary visa. This type of visa is for a child or stepchild of a parent who holds a temporary partner visa and who has not yet been granted a permanent partner visa.

To qualify the child's parent must hold one of the following types of visa:

  • temporary Spouse visa (subclasses 309 or 820)
  • temporary Partner visa (subclasses 309 or 820)
  • temporary Interdependency visa (subclasses 310 or 826).

Those that are applying for this visa will require sponsorship from the same person sponsoring the child's visa-holding parent.

Something that needs to be taken into consideration is if this child visa is granted, the child must lodge their own application for the same permanent visa as their parent, please keep in mind this needs to be done before a decision is made on the parent's permanent visa application. Don't worry though because at All Australian Visas we have done many child visa applications and we know very well how the process needs to run.

The child visa allows the visa holder to travel to and from, or remain in Australia for as long as their parent's temporary visa is valid, or until the parent's permanent visa application is finalised.
